Dog Demo

Fan Zone

During the Invictus Games The Hague 2020, the Defence Surveillance and Security Organisation will give two small demonstrations every day, showing how a suspect is approached and arrested. They will also use a service dog.
Every day at 10.00 and 14.30 hours a demonstration will take place. The demonstration also shows the means used for an arrest. It is also made clear what a service dog must be able to do in order to do his job well.
Before they are bought, dogs are tested for their courage, daring and guarding instinct. This is done
by, for example, sending a dog on a person wearing a (protective bite suit) at an average speed of 42 km per hour. During the “setting” (suspect is then grabbed in the upper arm), the dog must not show any fear.
The DBBO (Defence Surveillance and Protection Organisation) provides day and night security for
the interests to be protected (TBBs) of the various Defence components (DOs) within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This is done through, for instance, access control, observation and armed intervention.
