Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands has been named honorary chairman of the Recommendation Committee of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020. The Invictus Games, an international sporting event for physically and psychologically wounded soldiers, will be held next year at Zuiderpark in The Hague. The official kick-off meeting of this event will take place on 9 May 2019 in the presence of the Princess.
During the kick-off, exactly one year before the event, Princess Margriet will receive an explanation of the progress of the plans and a tour through the Zuiderpark with a demonstration of various “Invictus” sports. Princess Margriet also speaks with a number of athletes from the Dutch team.
The Invictus Games were created by His Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex to stimulate recovery through sports, support rehabilitation and generate broader understanding and respect for wounded soldiers and veterans. The Invictus Games will be held in The Hague next year from 9 to 16 May.
