Digital event week

From a virtual loop of the Netherlands to an online work out, handing over a tandem and the blessing of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 Tulip. It was a wonderful week that we will never forget! Last week, it was supposed to be The Invictus Games The Hague 2020 presented by Jaguar Land Rover. Even though this edition has been postponed to next year, we didn’t want to let this week pass by silently. The pandemic didn’t stop us from enjoying a week together, apart.

 Lap of Holland

The week was kicked off with a virtual lap of the Netherlands with teams from across the Invictus Family and supporters. The aim was to complete a full lap of the Netherlands – 918 miles within a 24hr period. Competitors of The Lap of Holland had the option to run, wheel, swim, walk or row. In the end a stunning 6 virtual Laps of Holland were completed in only 24 hours.

 Live work out

On the first day of the digital eventweek, the Dutch Invictus team led an online workout live for international competitors to join. Inspiring each other and influencing each other. It was a 40 minutes tabata training and the session was held at the rehabilitation center in Doorn, the Netherlands. This work-out session is now available on YouTube as well, so you can still participate if you want to via this link.

 Tandem hand over

At the request of the Hague’s Beweegloket, the Invictus Games organization donated a Paralympic Tandem to councilor of sports Hilbert Bredemeijer who in turn handed over the bike to HSK Trias on June 2nd. After the councilor gave the start sign this bicycle was tested out by a visually impaired member of the club with the help of a so called “pilot”.

Tulip blessing
