Belgium to join the Invictus Games The Hague 2020

On Belgium’s National Day, the Invictus Games Foundation is delighted to announce that Belgium will be the nineteenth country to join the list of competing nations ahead of the fifth Invictus Games. A team of ten Belgian wounded, injured, or sick Servicemen and women, will be heading to the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 in May next year.

Alongside them will be their friends and family, supporting the competitors on their journey to recovery through sport. As well as using the power of sport to facilitate the recovery and support the rehabilitation of wounded, injured, sick Servicemen and women, the Invictus Games seek to recognise the impact that friends and family play in that journey. The friends and family members will be there to join the competitors in celebrating their achievements as they demonstrate their Invictus Spirit through sporting endeavour.

“It’s great to be able to add a new name to the list of competing nations as we welcome Belgium to the Invictus Games family,” said Dominic Reid, CEO of the Invictus Games Foundation. “The Foundation’s role is to oversee the international development of the Invictus Games, and act as guardians of the Invictus Spirit exemplified by the men and women in their recovery. We look forward to seeing the journey of the Belgian competitors as they prepare to participate in the Invictus Games The Hague 2020.”

“I am thrilled to welcome Belgium as the new participating nation to the Invictus Games The Hague 2020. We are looking forward to onboard Belgium and to include them in the Invictus Games Family, a community of Wounded Injured and Sick Service personnel and their beloved ones, supporting each other in their rehabilitation process,” said Conny Wenting-  CEO of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020.

“This is the beginning of a journey for the people of our nation to show their support for our wounded, injured or sick Servicemen and women. It’s also a step in the journey to recovery for the competitors taking part for Team Belgium and we’re so excited to be attending the Invictus Games The Hague 2020! ” said Bernard Bolly, manager for Team Belgium.
